The Simply Paddle kiosk is located just steps from the River Point District Kayak Launch, so you can check in, launch, and be on the water in minutes. Whether you're visiting Manitowoc or seeing your hometown from a new perspective, there’s plenty to explore along the river.
A sheltered picnic table sits next to the launch, making it easy to gather your gear, relax before or after your paddle, or simply enjoy the view. Please note that there are no public restrooms at this location.
Approx. 1 to 2 hours
A shorter paddle with plenty to see, this stretch offers a unique water-level view of Manitowoc’s working waterfront and maritime history.
Along the way, you may spot:
USS Cobia
See the 312-foot World War II submarine from the water for a totally different perspective. Fun fact: it is identical to the 28 submarines built right here on the Manitowoc River.
Burger Boat Company
A Manitowoc shipbuilding institution since 1863, Burger still builds custom luxury yachts here today. You may even catch one in progress.
Konecranes
Those giant blue cranes are built right here in Manitowoc, then shipped through the Great Lakes to ports and naval stations around the world.
SS Badger
Depending on the time of day, you may catch the iconic car ferry docked near the harbor.
This paddle is a great fit for first-timers, casual paddlers, and anyone who wants a fun, scenic outing without committing to a longer trip.
Approx. 2 to 4 hours
Want a longer outing? Continue beyond downtown and experience the river as it shifts from industry to quiet natural beauty.
This paddle includes everything in the Historic Waterfront Paddle, plus:
Henry Schuette Park
As you paddle farther upriver, the atmosphere changes. The banks become more wooded, the city noise fades, and wildlife becomes part of the experience.
Ice Age Trail Corridor
Parts of the river trace alongside the Ice Age Trail, giving you a unique water-level perspective of one of Wisconsin’s most iconic natural treasures.
A Whole New View of Manitowoc
One of the best parts of this trip is watching the city gradually fall away behind you as the river opens into a calmer, more natural landscape.
This option is perfect for paddlers who want a fuller experience and a little more time to explore.
These are self-guided paddling experiences. Rental times vary depending on how far you choose to go and how long you want to stay out on the water.
